Library readings, school visits, parties and group events!
For all events, Kimberly will read Heelda the Cat stories and play her guitar to lead the kids in fun, interactive songs about being a friend, loving and caring for others, and having a heart of gratitude.
For parties, Kimberly can customize appropriate activities.
For classrooms, in addition to reading and singing songs that relate to the Heelda the Cat book themes, students can see and hear Kimberly’s process of writing and illustrating books. Students can enjoy the process of being a writer and illustrator themselves by taking the fun steps to achieve their own personal writings and drawings.
Other opportunities:
*Hear how Kimberly’s childhood influenced her to write & illustrate books for children
*Students can get to know each Heelda the Cat character & see how they personally identify with a particular character, learning we all have special gifts and abilities that are unique and valuable
Discuss how we each can personally be a positive influence in the world around us. A few ideas…..
*Draw pictures/create cards/write a letter to encourage a friend, family member, or school staff members
*Make cards, and/or visit to encourage those in a retirement facility
*Kimberly will share her Card Ministry for the Elderly as an example, and basic communication skills can be learned such as looking others in the eyes when speaking, introductions, questions to get to know others, and learning to see the value of all people, regardless of age.
*Collect items local charities have on their “most needed” list
We ALL grow & thrive as humans by having an attitude of gratitude!
*Students create a Gratitude Journal- each day they list at least 3 things for which they are thankful
Heelda the Cat & Friends enjoy the outdoors. Increase students’ awareness of the mental, physical, and emotional benefits of spending time outside each day…
*Students create a journal recording the amount of time/activities they enjoy outside in the span of 1-2 weeks
*Students share ideas & suggestions of how we can enjoy the outdoors with family and friends
The above are just a few ideas of how the themes of Heelda the Cat books can be used to enrich the lives of students & the world around them.
